报告题目： The Origin of the Name “China”and the Ways of Spreading This Name across the World.

内容简介： The name “China”was adapted four times to Western languages: 1) in ancient times as Sina; 2) in the 6th century as Tzinista; 3) by Marco Polo as a name of the sea Mare Cin; 4) by Portuguese sailors ca. 1500 as Chins/China. This lecture is about the origin of all these adaptations and ways of spreading various forms of the name 'China' across the world.

专家简介：

Professor Malinowski is currently the Director of the Institute of Classical Mediterranean and Far East Studies at the University of Wroclaw, Poland. He is a member of the Institute's Board and the member of the University's Investment and Assets Senate, Director of the Division of Asian Studies Development and Affairs and a professor and PhD supervisor at the School of Languages of the University as well as a joint PhD supervisor at the University of Liverpool, UK. He has served as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Polish Linguistic Association, twice served as Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Wroclaw, and has been invited to visit and exchange with Chinese universities and cultural institutions. he was also a visiting scholar at the University of Leuven (Belgium), Boston College (USA), and the University of Oxford (UK). Since 2023 he has been the Director of the Division of Education and Research in CECC （中欧商会）.
